I discovered Terrain yesterday from Rachel's blog whereupon I fell head over heels for the "bespoke slatted bench." I've searched everywhere online to learn more about this fabulous style.
I discovered that the term "bespoke" actually means custom- like custom clothing- though I believe can also mean "tailored." (Dear readers, many of you know much more about this than I).
Mystery possibly solved, but one question remains- can anyone do garden benches better than the English?
Perhaps the French?
Here's to a lovely day!

Hmmm, I think my favorite is that bed just because it feels so whimsical, but I also love that last image of the French Wire Bench-hard to go wrong on 1st Dibs (well until you have to pay for your dinner)! Such sculptural shapes!
ReplyDeleteHi Emmie, well I learned something today! They are lovely...great option should I ever get around to working on my backyard!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Janell
Beautiful examples - I believe I saw these in Paris as well. SO much better than those frumpy park numbers you usually see.
ReplyDeleteI'll take all of them! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely, though the last one doesn't look too comfortable!
ReplyDeleteI am loving that french daybed!! oh wow! Hope your having a great day! = )
ReplyDeleteI just bought a great garden bench on Craig's List for $35! And thought that was a coup - until this past weekend when the neighborhood went dumpster diving. One of our neighbor's had died, and his children were clearing out the house. We spent a giddy Friday morning (and then evening) hauling home end tables, a cobbler's bench, work table (soon to be outdoor dining table), a flat file & Blue & white china. Unbelievable!
ReplyDeleteThese are all so beautiful - I would love any one of them for the garden. A daybed would be so fantastic too but don't know how much I would get to use it up here in the NW. :)
ReplyDeletelove terrian!
ReplyDeletegreat post, and that day bed is fantastic!!
