Is it just me or is this flower very reminiscent of a sunburst?
Speaking of sunbursts, I arrived today in Ft. Lauderdale. While I have quite a bit of work to do throughout South Florida, I'm hoping to make some time to visit to Gumbo Limbo on Friday. And of course, a few runs on the beach.
Mr. Southern does not yet share my same appreciation of Florida.... but he'll come around eventually after I show him a few of my discovered treasures. There are few other states that offer such diversity. But I love South Florida.
Such a pretty lady! I adore flowers in this color combination. I'm a huge rose fan, and there's one called Brandy, I believe, with coloring like this. And of course, the famous Peace rose, though not as bright, has a similar color pattern at the base of its petals. Nothing prettier.
ReplyDeletePlease! Can we send you some rain??? We've gotten 2+ inches already in June after tons of rain in May!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow!! That is one beautiful flower, I am in LOVE with color. Those are the kind of flowers I wish I had my own garden for, just stunning!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking as a South Florida gardener, I am proud that I have coaxed my hydrangeas back this year. They require lots of extra water, so I violate all the water restrictions (we are enduring drought conditions) and let the sprinklers do their magic a couple of times a week. I haven't tried dahlias since we lived in North Carolina. Maybe I should reconsider after seeing your lovelies!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning flower. You must be absolutely delighted!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the happy, nice comments!!! These are Jackson Perkins Dalias- will have to look at the bag to find the exact variety. I am smitten.
ReplyDeleteI think we are just now officially out of our drought? (water restrictions lifted somewhat) but I will still gladly take some rain! And Jean, my hydrangeas are very thirsty too. Beautiful flowers, but lots of "illegal" watering required.
your first flower is beautiful! that can only mean good things:)
